$75.00

Today, I’m mailing off giclee prints that one of my patrons ordered recently. I tried something a little new; adding a two inch border to really draw attention to the subject matter on 11×14 inch paper. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out and can’t wait for them to go out!

Visions of New York Prints For Sale

The Cloud & the Train ©Jaimee Todd, 2012

I pass this above ground train often when I’m running my errands in my neighborhood of Astoria. On a particularly beautiful day, I saw an enormous white cloud that looked like cotton candy hanging luminously in a perfect blue sky. At the same time, a slow-moving subway train moved toward the cloud, looking as if it might become engulfed. I snapped this shot, somewhat envious of the incredible view that the train conductor must have.

This print and many others are available for sale. Check out the complete collection here!

Plugging Along

So, with a little more than a month to go I’ve been pretty busy getting ready for the Visions of New York Show. Along with continual promotion, I’ve been working on getting the actual pieces printed matted and framed.  It’s amazing to see them in the “flesh”, so to speak because it makes the show all the more tangible. It really drives home the point that art is really meant to be seen in person, not just a computer screen.

Bridge Over Astoria Park, matted 16″x20″ (image size 11″x14″) on photografique paper.

That said, the tricky thing is trying to figure out what exactly to put in the show. I have a pretty large collection of images to choose from but rather than try and cram everything into the gallery space, I’m trying to be more selective as to what goes in. I want the pieces to breathe on their own but want people to have a good collection to take in. Just when I think I know all that I want include, I see something else in my portfolio that I want to add. It also doesn’t help that I keep taking pictures when I’m on the run that would also look great. Clearly, and this is a good thing, I don’t have to worry about not having enough to put int he show!

I’m also staging how I want to hang the postcard prints that will also be featured. I’m looking to feature 40-50 postcard prints that I’ll sell for $5.00. I always like to have affordable art options available because I think everyone should be able to own a piece of art they enjoy without having to break the bank. Initially, I was looking to adhere each postcard to the wall, but since I only have a few hours to hang everything the day of the show (emphasis on pop-up!), I’ve devised another method. I’m testing it out on my bedroom wall.

Staging the postcard prints on my wall.

Actually, my entire apartment has become a fertile testing ground for this show, which is probably why it looks like an art supply store exploded all over the place. I will not be posting pictures of that.
Trust me, it’s for your own good.

However, I’m happy to also share that my lovely postcards from my beloved Moo arrived last week. I sent out the second wave of invitations already and I just ordered more to be sent out, as they have been very well received. If you, dear reader, would care for one, kindly send me your mailing address at jaimee@jaimeetodd.com and I will hook you up!

Until next time.

Golllllllllll!!!!!!!

So before you all think I’ve lost my mind, let me briefly explain the the title of this here post.

If you have ever watched a soccer match on Spanish television, you’ll now that the television announcer loves to make a resounding shout whenever a player scores a goal. It’s distinctive, stays with you, and even if you don’t speak Spanish you’ll know what it means when the announcer calls out in one drawn out shout: “Golllllllllllll!”

Goal, baby.

And that’s exactly what I’m shouting these days. As of last week, in only eight days, we raised $1500! I was confident that we’d get there but never expected that we do it so quickly! What’s even more exciting is that the momentum keeps going and we are continuing to surpass our goal. As of this email, the Visions of New York Fundraising Campaign has now raised $1630 with 18 days left to go! We can still make the show even bigger and better, so if you have not already contributed, you can still do so by moseying over here.

In the meantime, I have been very busy putting together my packages to mail out to all of you generous contributors. All the print cutting and packaging stuffing over this weekend had me feeling like Santa Claus in May, but I mailed out the first wave of gifts this week with the rest on their way. Even though the tote bag and the postcard perks have already sold out, there are still more opportunities to contribute and no amount is too small.

Once again, thank you for all of your support, positive comments and good energy. They help me burn that midnight oil!

Until next time,

Jaimee

Fan Photos-More New York City Love

One of my biggest collectors, Frank, has no problem telling me that he’s not a huge fan of New York City. Being that he’s not a city person, he tends to avoid places like Gotham as much as can. In spite of his aversion, Frank loves my street photography because he told me that it makes New York feel like an altogether different place, a place that he wants to know. I take that as a big compliment! Here are three of the latest prints that he bought.

Thanks for sharing your NY Love, Frank and I’m digging the frames!

These three pieces will also be one of the many photographs available for display and sale at my upcoming show July 28th! In the meantime, if you can’t make to NYC for the show, you can always order customizable prints by emailing me at jaimee@jaimeetodd.com.

Autumn in New York Prints Are Here!

Before the winter comes and snatches us away in it’s cold grasp, I wanted to share my Autumn In New York Prints via my online store. This time, instead of using the usual 5″x7″ prints, I decided to do a 5″x5″ size with a white border that gives a little more of a vintage feel to it. I love how the gold tones came out in the shots because it will make a neutral space pop with color! Each print is hand-signed in metallic ink and each set is an affordable $8.00 apiece.

I’m really having so much fun with my photography that I can’t wait to share more photography pieces through my store. Stay tuned!

Art Sale!

Happy Friday! What better way to celebrate the end of a short work week than with a special sale at on my online store? Now and until September 12 (Monday), you can take 20% off your order by using the special promotion code JTSPECIAL.

Aaaaaand, just to sweeten the pot, the first FIVE people who place an order today (and today only), will get a free postcard print set, which is normally a $15.00 value. So stop on by because this offer is only good today (September 9).

Fan Photos

So before I consign myself to a fun day of doing my taxes (note massive sarcasm when I say “fun”) and other stuff that I have been putting off for most of the winter, I thought I’d share some fan photos. Frank bought a few photography prints and wanted to share what they looked like framed. I’m really impressed with the way they look in the black frames so kudos to him for hooking them up and making them look so cool. Cheers!

Postcards From New York (Lulu)

Brooklyn Bridge

So for the past few months, or rather, the last few years, Lulu and her predecessor have been collecting images of New York with the hopes of sharing their fondness for New York with others. We are all happy to say that that day has finally come and Postcards From New York are here.

Lulu and company’s handiwork is available through my online store. As you’ll notice from the site, the black and white photography is a bit of a departure from my other works but I really love the vintage look of it, especially for showcasing some of New York’s most iconic images. I….ahem, I mean, Lulu, added a half-inch border to help make the images really stand out.

At any rate, please feel free to check them out right here and celebrate New York with a limited edition, hand-signed print!

Mangoes Love

My dear and supportive friend Laurie has been patiently but eagerly anticipating my putting out prints of my painting Mangoes, and when I finally did start selling them via my online store, she was first in line to purchase one. Laurie was in the process of repainting and redecorating her living room space and wanted something to complement the warm tones of her new wall color and furniture.

When she took the print to get it framed, Laurie told me that the framer was suggesting various types of protective glass and was gingerly touching the print because he thought it was the actual painting! Big props to my printers Imaging Coliseum for the “mistake”.

Anyway, the frame for the print turned out well and Laurie was happy to put it up on her pretty, buttery walls and was kind enough to share the moment with me. Thank you, Laurie!

My Mangoes print is still available for sale via my online store and each print is hand-signed by yours truly.

Happy Friday!
